A Pane in our Window
A new, ongoing fundraiser asks you to be A Pane in our Window. For a donation of $250, you can be a PANE. The name of each donor who gives $500 or more will be engraved on a plaque which will be displayed permanently in the completed building. Each donor who buys an entire window (with a donation of $5,000) will be honored with a plaque next to the window. The new windows will be hurricane strength, eliminating the need for shutters, and will replicate as closely as possible the original windows seen in the earliest photographs of the building. The windows are large and expensive and are near the top of the list of work to be addressed during the next year.

In 2011, the building will be opened periodically to give the community the opportunity to see our progress. The first opening will be on Saturday, February 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.during the Festival of the Arts being held on Dixie Highway in Hobe Sound. Please stop by and check out what we’ve done and the future plans for this piece of Hobe Sound history.

Current Activities Activities sponsored by the Apollo School Foundation raise awareness of and funds for the rehabilitation of the historic Apollo School. Two annual fundraisers continue to be popular events in the community. |
|
The Apollo School Prom is a festive, costume-optional event with delicious dining, live music, dancing, silent and live auctions and a raffle. The highlight of each Prom is the crowning of the Queen and King. Last year’s royalty, Paula Cooper and Jack Erickson, will crown their successors at this year’s Prom, which will be Saturday, May 14, at the Hobe Sound Golf Club. Tickets are $50 per person. To commemorate the 315th anniversary of the shipwreck of the Reformation on Jupiter Island, the theme of the 2011 Prom is “Jonathan Dickinson’s Shipwreck”. |

The Fall Event The Fall Event, once known as “Down at the Schoolyard”, is popular with adults and kids alike. Food from the Catfish House and Harry and the Natives and musical entertainment keep our guests happy. A highlight of the 2010 event was a reprise of the cakewalk, with cakes generously provided by members of the GFWC Hobe Sound Women’s Club. The afternoon event is held at the Hobe Sound Civic Center on a selected Saturday in October. Watch this site for additional information as the year progresses. |

We are making a list of anyone who would like to be memorialized on the campus of the Apollo School by having their name inscribed on a brick. At this time, we are gauging interest and would like to know if you would join us in this fundraising effort. For just $100, your and/or your organization’s or family’s name will be seen by generations to come.
